Massage Therapy

The Majority of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress related complaints such as headaches, backaches, neck pain, eyestrain, poor concentration, anxiety, depression, irritability, anger, high blood pressure, heart disease, ulcers, as well as, physical and emotional exhaustion.

Massage therapy has a profound effect on your body’s nervous system. When massage therapy activates your body’s parasympathetic nervous system, it counteracts your body’s negative response to stress, relaxing muscle tension and allowing your heart rate, blood pressure and circulation to return to normal.

Massage therapy also helps you become more aware of your body and your unconsciously held tension. As you become more aware of your body, you will begin to recognize tension as it builds during the day so that you can consciously release it before it can have a negative effect on your body.

Reflexology is a method of applying pressure to reflexes in the feet that correspond to each and every gland, organ and system of the body. There are over 7200 nerve endings (reflexes) in each foot. The theory of Reflexology is that the entire body can be mapped onto the feet. By applying pressure to these reflex points, a message travels through the nervous system to the brain which correspondingly sends a healing response to the stressed area of the body. Stimulation of these reflexes improves circulation, relieves stress, relaxes the body and effectively facilitates the natural healing process; thereby, revitalizing and enhancing your total health.

Eyelash Extensions

What Are Eyelash Extensions? Eyelash Extensions are a high end luxury service made popular by Hollywood celebrities. The cosmetic process enhances the length, thickness and fullness of your natural lashes through the application of single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural eyelash one by one for a natural, beautiful and luscious look, eliminating the need for mascara or makeup.

What do Eyelash Extensions look like when applied? With proper application, meaning one synthetic eyelash applied to one natural lash the look and feel is completely natural looking and real. No one will know you have extensions. They will just think you were born with beautiful, long lashes!

How long will a set of Eyelash Extensions Last? When applied properly, eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes. Everyone’s experience will differ based on day to day activities but over all touchups should only be required every 2 to 3 weeks.

How often should I get touch-ups? We recommend getting a touch up at a maximum of 3 weeks. If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. Your natural eyelashes fall off every 45 – 60 days due to the natural growth cycle and are naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Other factors such as expsoure to steam or touching your eyes alot may cause the extensions to fall sooner. A touch up is needed to fill in any lashes that fallen. Touch ups average about 60 minutes.

A Touch of Hope has added a “weekly touch” up service as requested by some of our VIP clients who want to keep their lashes looking perfect.

How long will it take to Apply Eyelash Extensions and how is it done? The lash application process brings new meaning to “beauty sleep”. You will lay comfortably on a massage or facial table with your eyes closed. The eyelash technician will then apply an under eye gel pad to cover your lower lashes . Then the extensions will be applied to each individual eyelash on a hair by hair basis alternating between each eye.

You should allow 2 hours for your first lash application. 2-3 week touch ups you will take a much shorter 45-60 minute “lash nap”.

Can I apply mascara to Eyelash Extensions? Yes, even though mascara is not really required since the extensions actually give the illusion of wearing mascara it can be worn. It must however only be water based mascara.

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions? YES! The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise etc. Special care is required but overall maintenance is low. We do recommend however that you do not wet your lashes for 48 hours following your appointments. Eyelash Extension Aftercare

Aftercare is about protecting your eyelash investment and getting the most out of each and every eyelash application.

What do I need to do to care for my eyelash extensions?

Do not wet your eyelashes for 48hours after your procedure. This will give the glue an appropriate amount of time to cure. This means you should also avoid steam rooms / saunas and swimming during that period.

Do not use waterproof mascara on your eyelashes. A water soluble mascara or one designed specifically for eyelash extensions is fine to use, although you’ll probably find that you no longer require mascara.

Do not use cleansers or makeup removers that contain oil or solvents on your eyes, as these will compromise the bonding agent used to adhere your eyelashes.

Do not rub your eyes, instead you should get used to patting your eyes gently which is in fact much better for the eyelashes and the sensitive skin around the eyes.

Never pull, rub, or twist your eyelash extensions as it will pull out your natural eyelash.

Do not use eyelash curlers on your eyelashes.

Book your next eyelash refill at a maximum of 2-3 week intervals in order to maintain your optimum eyelash effect.

Useful Tips to extend the life of your eyelash extensions:

Tip #1 Brush, brush, brush! Groom those lashes using the mascara wand provided by your lash stylist. Keeping your lashing straight and untangled lengthens their life and keeps them looking fabulous! Three times a day is recommended.

Tip #2 Keep lashes clean and limit makeup. Clean lashes are happy lashes.

Dermaplaning is a safe (provided the person performing it is properly trained) and highly effective physical exfoliation procedure. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently “shave” the skin’s surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). The procedure can be performed monthly, in less than thirty minutes, with no downtime post-treatment. Dermaplaning is only performed on the face; however, it is not meant to be used to shape eyebrows, which are made up of “terminal” (not vellus) hairs. The nose is also avoided. Our State License professionals perform this service.

Benefits of dermaplaning

Physical exfoliation triggers the cell regeneration process and allows products to better penetrate skin. Some practitioners perform a chemical peel post-dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is also excellent to rid the face of excess fine hairs which can often accumulate dirt and oil. Contrary to popular belief, vellus hairs, as opposed to terminal hair, will not grow back thicker or darker.

Who should consider dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is especially effective on those with dry or rough skin texture and helps to minimize superficial acne scarring or uneven skin tone. It is also beneficial for mature skin, which tends to have a buildup of dead cells as cellular turnover slows down with age. Dermaplaning is safe for pregnant or lactating clients who cannot have chemical peels (peels penetrate skin to act at the cellular level, thus are contraindicated). Those with very oily or active acne should avoid this procedure as well as anyone with thick, dark facial hair.
